A little bit about me

Currently looking for part-time morning hours with one kid, ideally under 2.

My passions lie in the outdoors and creative expression. I've spent the last 2 years caring for my grandparents who are in their 90s, in the heart of LA. Before that I worked in outdoor education including nature pre-school, nature day camp, and sleep away expedition programs. Residing in Colorado, New Hampshire, and Maine. I also nannied during college.

I grew up visiting Santa Barbara with my grandparents, and am now calling it home. I live aboard a 35 foot sailboat with my boyfriend, which we plan to put to use in the coming years.

I spent the first 10 years of my life in Paris, France, so I am fluent in french. I am also proficient in Spanish, as I have been living with my Ecuadorian Grandmother.

Care-taking is what I am good at, I love to cook and I love children.
My approach is centered around play, celebrating their curiosity and sense of wonder.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Nannying throughout college. 1-on-1 work with children under 2 years old. [phone number hidden]

Nature-Preschool, working in an outdoor classroom setting with children age [phone number hidden]

Nature Day camp in the summer of 2021. Working with groups of 8 children, ranging in ages 6-11. We spent our days hiking, and splashing in creeks. I planned games and activities to help build community amongst each other and connection to the outdoors we explored.

Leading Expeditions. Groups of up to 13 children ranging in ages 8-17. This was a sleep away program, some programs stayed at basecamp, with daily activities, and some were 12 day backpacking and canoeing expeditions. I was one of 2 or 3 instructors on these trips.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Creative activities, drawing/collage.
I have always loved to dance and have an inclination towards performance. I have a repertoire of hippy camp songs that I love to teach and sing with kids.
I like to go on hikes, or have beach days. I enjoy swimming. I love to bake, and enjoy doing that with children.
With a younger age range I follow their lead when it comes to playing, working on fostering their creativity and encouraging their curiosity.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a positive presence for the kids, while supporting parents. I strive to make kids feel seen, and to gain their trust. I think it's important for kids of all ages to have the space to be goofy, and silly, and unafraid to embarrass themselves.
I hope to create that space so that they feel encouraged to discover who they are, and enjoy it.
