Hello, my name is Maliq (Malik) Peake. I am 3/8 children that my mother birthed & raised. My entire life, I've been babysitting on & off at random times, however I'd like to pursue a career in childcare altogether. I've previously worked for "Boys & Girls Club", "SENECA CDC", and ALSO an organization known as "Empower" (They deal with behavioral & mentally challenged children). Though these previous employment opportunities haven't been permanent, my love for children of all ages (infants make me anxious) remains the same. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Working with children goes beyond the 3 previous positions I've had. My mother has always been a working mom, so whenever she needed help taking care of any of my 5 younger siblings I was there. At Boys & Girls Club & SENECA CDC I watched over various groups of children from the age of 4 to 13. When I worked at EMPOWER, I worked with children that needed special attention & teachings that varied in age from 3 to 7. From all of these experiences, they've taught me that every child is TRULY DIFFERENT. I'm willing to work with the children of all shapes, shades, and sizes to not only better themselves, but also MYSELF!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I've always been an indoor kid, considering that watching over a gaggle of children can be overwhelming for anyone who isn't very keen on being outside/active. I provide my own Nintendo Switch of which has a plethora of child-friendly games & activities that all ages can enjoy; I'm also a very big fan of board games/puzzles. If your child is a fan of the outdoors, I'm very capable of creating endless fun through imagination & other toys of which will keep them involved as well as entertained.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is that you're emotionally available, as well as physically, in order to effectively & efficiently communicate with not only the child but also the parent. Though you may not be watching over the adult of the home, it's MANDATORY that you communicate with them about what THEIR child is doing at home, how they're feeling, and whether or not they may need assistance (physically/emotionally). It takes a village to raise any child, and NO PARENT should go through such a difficult process like raising a child on their OWN or even raising a child in a household of MANY OTHER CHILDREN.

My experience with special needs children...

EMPOWER was my very first experience working with those who have special needs. There, I was introduced to many different ways of teaching & dealing with disobedience. Not every child is aware of what they're doing. Even if it is something as simple as spilling a drink of water, some children don't understand that they've done something that is looked at as "wrong". EMPOWER taught all of the staff there that patience is your ally at all times. I've got nothing but time, love & UNDERSTANDING no matter the child.
