I'm almost 70 yrs young and don't feel, look, or act like it. Gene pool...

My 51 year old son has mild autism and cerebral palsy.
He is now married and thriving.

I love what I do which makes life more enjoyable for everyone .

I started out doing eldercare for almost 20 years but as it turns out, kids are a lot more fun and...they last a little longer ;-)

Full disclosure now...
I had a pretty rough start as a young adult and I made some bad choices. I have a recent background report from when I was working at a nursery documenting them.
I'm happy and proud to say that,
I turned it all around over 25 yrs
ago and I'm now the loving and caring woman my parents raised.

I have an autistic child and a newborn that I care for occasionally so, I would love to get something in the p.m. hours or even overnight.
I still have a part of the daytime available.
I also have many wonderful references when needed.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked for a daycare part of the summer. There weren't enough hours offered so, as much as I hated to, I had to take the other job offered.
The business has picked so, I get called for fill-ins .

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I can channel my inner child in the drop of a hat. I love reading to children and getting animated for them. Love puzzles and games and anything to expand their minds. Depending on their age, I also love playing in the snow (sledding)or swimming in the summertime. Hopscotch, hide and seek jump rope.
I will also help with homework when needed.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, I think One of the best parts of being a nanny, aside from engaging with beautiful children is, just giving the parents a break and making sure they know that I love and care for their children (almost) as much as they do.
I try and treat all the children I've cared for as if they're my own.
I was raised with a lot of love and I think it's only fair that I give it back.

My experience with special needs children...

I raised a son with cerebral palsy and mild autism. He is now 51 years old and a happily married man.
Over the last few years I've worked with several autistic children and adults.
I am still working with two very sweet and loving autistic children but it's an "as needed" situation.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I'll never forget the one time I was playing baseball in the front yard with two beautiful kids on the Island and the little boy went to slide into home base and slid right into my dog and flipped her over.
We still laugh about that. I still go visit them when I'm on the island. They love my little dog Mollie 🐾
