I spent two years as a live-in nanny, caring for an infant/toddler. During that time, I adapted to the routines, supported their developmental milestones, managed meals, naps, playtime, and created a safe, loving environment.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy playing with and teaching children (if the parents agree). I like doing creative activities and involving kids in simple recipes, which is something I really enjoy. I’m patient, warm, and very attentive to each child’s needs. Reading for/with kiddos is also one of the things I encourage to do with them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I’m always learning. Although I really enjoy teaching and playing with children, I often feel that it’s actually them who teach me, with their expressions, emotions, and attitudes.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with children with special needs comes from my time as a preschool teacher. I had the opportunity to occasionally assist the specialist teachers and learn from both them and the children. So far, that has been my only experience working with children with special needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my sweetest memories was hearing one of the children I cared for sing in Spanish, a song I used to sing to him before bedtime.
