A little bit about me

I'm a bilingual Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (fluent in English and Spanish) looking to work on weekends and starting next year adding school summer vacations. I have a BS degree in Psychology and a BA degree in Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education. I've worked with children 1 to 12 yrs old both in home Early Intervention and school districts. I raised a 20 yr. old son with Autism and 26 yr. old daughter with ADHD. I have plenty of experience with different needs children. There are babies in my extended family so I still remember how to take care of them. A mother never forgets that. I'm easy going but can be firm if needed. It all depends on the child's and parent's needs. I can do light housekeeping if needed. I am a very good cook who can make many meals healthier or vegetarian if the children need it. I had a beautiful dog many years ago, I now own a cat and I love animals. I'm looking to work for for more than 2 hours.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked for Early Intervention with children 1 to 3yrs old. I also work at elementaries providing speech therapy. I raised two of my children and was highly involved in my nieces lives.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, crafts, gameboards, pretend play, safe cooking, outside play. Basically anything that stimulates their brain.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure the children are and feel safe. As a nanny you need to take care of those children as you would like others to take care of yours. Respecting them as well as respecting the parent's wishes goes along with this.

My experience with special needs children...

A 20 yr. son on the Autism Spectrum, a 26 yr. old daughter with ADHD, Early Intervention Home Health speech therapy, and currently working with many special education children in grades TK through 8th grade.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I used to babysit my nieces. On weekends I would divide everyone and give them a small chore. Once we all finished I would take them to grab munchies, pizza and drinks. Then we would throw a big blanket in front of the TV and watch a couple of movies. It was the simplest thing but we all LOVED doing that. They always mention it when remembering old days.

Amina R. - Seeking Work in San Diego

Part-Time Nanny Available in San Diego, CA: Amina R.

Hello! My name is Amina, and I am a warm, dependable, patient, and experienced childcare professional with a background spanning childcare, behavioral support, children’s yoga, wellness, and education.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with children of various ages and abilities. My experience includes six years as a behavioral/ABA tutor supporting children on the autism spectrum, which reinforced for me the vital importance of patience, consistency, clear communication, and compassion.

In addition to behavioral support, I have worked extensively with children through yoga and movement programs—teaching preschool and school-aged children across summer camps and after-school programs—as well as serving as a private nanny. In my care, I strive to maintain a thoughtful balance between structured routines and fun, creative activities that allow each child to thrive.
