I also worked for an after school high school program that was formed to help tutor kids with autism.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I like to do activities that will enhance the performance of a child according to their personality and likes. If a chilld is very energetic I will do activities such as light sports, scavenger hunts, and dance battles. For children more introverted and less energetic I like to read, do color books, do non messy crafts, drawing and gaming with them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe that keeping a child safe while providing them with a joyful/interactive care experience has to be the most important part of being a nanny.
My experience with special needs children...
The only experience I have had with special needs children is with kids who are part of the Autism spectrum. I believe I have worked with children on the high side of the spectrum and as well with the low side of the spectrum. I also have siblings on the spectrum which makes me more understandable and knowledgable of their behavior and what they like and dislike. Being also a tutor for students who are part of the spectrum provided me with a lot of patience and understanding towards Autism.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when a young child I took care for bought me a present for Mother's day because he believed that I took care of him so well that I was going to be a good a mother one day.
