A little bit about me

I worked as a substitute teacher for elementary age children for 2 years. I was also a daycare teacher for 4.5 years in Newport. My students ranged from ages 2 to 4. I have some ABA training and am currently working with special needs children. I also have experience as a private tutor and sitter to a learning disabled child.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy potty training, teaching children to eat and clean up after themselves, working on various arts and crafts projects and helping to build fine motor skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny and a teacher to me is being able to love my children. My goal as a daycare teacher was always to make the children feel at home. I made sure to have a warm and nurturing presence and create a trusting relationship with the parents as well.

My experience with special needs children...

I have some light training in ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) and am currently working 1:1 with a special needs child at an elementary school. I was a private tutor to a young lady with learning disabilities for approximately 4 years. We worked on reading, writing, pronunciation, and reading comprehension amongst other things. The family grew to trust me and I eventually became her babysitter as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I watched a 1 year old baby during a summer while his mom was bed ridden due to a difficult pregnancy. His father was a fireman and thusly not always home. I enjoyed taking the baby to the park, bathing him and putting him to bed after a long day. I would usually spend the night and get him ready in the morning. The mother went on to enroll him in my daycare class when he turned 2. I also had the pleasure of having his little sister in my class.
