A little bit about me

Hey I’m Marley! I am a 21 year old living in San Marcos, TX. I am not currently in school. I am a registered behavior technician working at an ABA therapy center. I absolutely love working with all kids, and have found myself particularly skilled and passionate about working with children with ASD and other specials needs. I was a cheerleader for 7 years. Once I stop cheering at my gym sophomore year of high school, I began working at the gym coaching and teaching a wide range of classes, and running summer camps for children of all ages. I was also a volunteer coach for our team for children with special needs. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to work in these positions with all different types of children, because without these experiences, I would have never learned how much working with children fulfills in a way that no other job has. I believe that my experience sets me apart from the rest, and allows me to bring something special to the table.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

As an RBT I am responsible for the everyday needs as the children on the autism spectrum that I care for. That includes feeding, toileting (including potty training), napping, etc, as well as an added component of behavior therapy. This includes a wide range of things such as teaching a child to clap, to teaching them how to tell a friend to give them space, to implementing behavior intervention plan to reduce behaviors such as physical aggression and/or self injurious behavior. While there are many many serious components to this job, there are also many lighthearted ones. It is very important to maintain a good friendship to authoritative figure ratio in each relationship, catering to the needs of each individual child. I also coached cheerleading and gymnastics classes for a large range of children, ran summer camps, and co coached a special needs cheerleading team. I do have babysitting experience outside of a work environment from when I was in highschool.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the two most important thing about any job in which you are working with children, are number one maintaining a safe space and a comfortable environment. The child’s safety is number one priority. Second of all, making sure that there is always a healthy balance of having fun and learning is crucial.
