A little bit about me

Hello! I love working with children and doing my part to be a positive influence for them, because I believe it really does take a village to raise a child. I also believe that every child (and everyone for that matter) deserves to be treated with kindness and respect. Children are complete people with the full range of feelings and emotions, and they should be shown patience and positive examples as they learn to convey these feelings and control these emotions. (I think adults forget that sometimes.)

I am passionate about learning and absolutely love introducing children to new ideas and experiences, watching the gears turn as they process what they're learning, and then seeing their eyes light up when they finally 'get it'.

I am not a professional nanny, but I am the mother of three older children who will soon be ready to head off into the world on their own. Raising them has been my life's joy!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am the mother of three now teenage/young adult children who I've homeschooled for the past eight years. They are my world. I have also helped care for a multitude of nieces and nephews whom I love as my own.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going on outings with the kids - to parks, museums, the theater, the zoo, library programs, etc. I'm a sucker for dance parties to classic Sesame Street songs (think Ladybugs' Picnic), Raffi songs, and The Laurie Berkner Band. I'm also a huge believer in the importance of making time for reading books, along with other mellow activities like playing board games, doing puzzles, and arts & crafts.

The most important part about being a nanny is providing a safe, loving, and engaging environment to help little ones grow into confident, kind, and productive big people.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When my nieces were younger, I cared for them during the day while their parents worked. My nieces LOVE cats but my sister-in-law is extremely allergic to them, so my nieces were never able to spend time with them. So, every Monday morning I would take them to the local Pet Supermarket where there were always cats and kittens waiting to be adopted, and we would spend hours playing with them. My nieces loved it so much, and I loved the smiles on their faces. We still talk about these memories to this day.
