Hello, my name is Mary Mulqueen! I am 24 years old and currently taking time off from studying at Appalachian State University. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have experience working with the preschool class of an elementary school that I attended when I was a child. I spent time as the teacher’s assistant in the classroom and through their recesses. During this experience, I learned the value of education at such a young age. You can make such an important impact on a child's life through the outlet of a classroom by the ways in which you help them play, learn, and communicate. Additionally, I have babysat multiple cousins and children in my hometown.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I really enjoy making art with children, playing with toys, dancing, being outside etc. I like to be playful and I know how important it is to be able to express yourself at a young age because I was always creating and exploring when I was their age. I have an open mind and am able to think really creatively which comes in handy when spending time with all kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part to me about being a nanny is creating a fun, open, and understanding environment for the child. I want whoever I am taking care of to feel safe with me.

My experience with special needs children...

I have volunteered for many years at the Special Olympics and when I did this I was always partnered with a "buddy" who I would take around to all of the games. I was individually responsible for their well-being throughout the full days. It has been filled with very fulfilling moments and I have learned so much from the children involved in it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments were small, special ones. I really like reading to kids and telling them stories as well as helping them create their own. I also have always enjoyed times when you can really tell that the child is starting to become truly comfortable with you. It makes me happy when I know I am really connecting with them.
