My name is Maureen and I moved from Charleston to Greenville about 2 years ago. I am a graduate from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I have a background working in schools, the Charleston Public Library, a local non-profit, and most recently in the corporate setting. I will soon be attending school at Greenville Tech to pursue an Associates in Nursing.

I consider myself a lifelong learner and I enjoy being active and outside, reading, and cooking. I am an excellent communicator and would be excited at the opportunity to help out with any needs your family may have.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have experience working at the Charleston County Public Library, a local no -profit called Just Say Something, and I am a certified coach for the Strengthening Families Program.

During my time at Just Say Something I met with students and families across Greenville county to promote healthy lifestyle and open conversations within the family unit.

As a Strengthening Families coach I meet with teens over the course of 11 weeks to discuss various topics regarding health, lifestyle, family communication and the importance of building community.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I try my best to encourage children’s interests and engage in activities they enjoy doing. Additionally, I like to promote activities outside of screen-time. This could include playing outside, reading, drawing, helping with cooking, playing games and having conversation.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being present for the child is the most importantly thing you can do.

My experience with special needs children...

I have limited experience with Special Needs children but I currently recruit Special Education teachers, BCBA’s, RBT’s, and Educational Diagnosticians. While I do not have a professional background working with students with Special Needs, I am familiar with and work closely with professionals in the field. I am very open to learning.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think some of my favorite moments have been seeing kids turn a new leaf. I’ve worked with some middle school students who were going through a lot of adversity and after meeting with them and getting to know them over the course of time, I could see how their outlook on life took a drastic shift. There was a girl I worked with who had struggled with anger and towards the end of our time together she was recognized that a lot of the reaction she had given to people was no longer worth her energy. I started to see her change her priorities and make decisions with her future in mind. Connection goes a long way.
