A little bit about me

Hi,
I’m Maya I’ve grown up with a big family always surrounded by kids. I have a few years of experience babysitting kids (mostly friends of my parents). I enjoy being able to still interact and help out with kids given that most of my family is grown up. I also grew up traveling a lot with my family so although I am not fluent I am still studying Spanish and French if that is something you are interested in as well. I am currently on summer break until the middle of August and have a lot of free time so I’m very flexible. I am based in Honolulu but can also head to other sides of the island if needed. I am currently a student at Punahou, and often volunteer with kids in the elementary school.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I volunteered in different children’s programs while traveling with my family a few years back in other countries like Mexico, Bali, Peru. It provided me with experiences I’d never forget and taught me valuable lessons. I’m great full for my opportunities because it really changed my perspective on my life and helped me become a much more positive person.

Painting, Riding Bikes, Coloring Books, Reading, Watching new movies, Helping with homework, helping with chores, arts and crafts, trying new recipes.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Growing up with a single mom I experienced lots of babysitters, some great and some were my worst nightmare, mean, isolated, lazy etc. For a long time I hated having a babysitter because they weren’t always a good fit. So now many years later I find it very important to make sure to treat kids kindly and with respect and help out as much as I can, so that I am able to make everyone feel comfortable and safe, because that is the most important thing I valued as a child.
Although I had a few terrible sitters, I also experienced amazing ones that I still look up to today. I was able to look at them as a friend and found them very helpful and accommodating.
