A little bit about me

Hello! My name is McKenzie and live in South Tacoma. I have a rescue dog, love the outdoors and nature. I am patient, communicative and great at problem solving!

I have experience in both professional facilities and just in home care for families, for all kinds of age groups. I have tons of infant experience, at separate times, I have been the primary nanny for 4 infants! I also worked in a daycare and was often left to care for 4+ babies at a time!

Collectively, I have worked in childcare for about 7 years.

Somethings I strive to teach all of my nanny kids are: independence, communication skills, identifying emotions, problem solving, along with so much more!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Nanny - Jan 2017 - March 2019 - 3 boys, ages 5, 3 and 6 months old when started.

Daycare Teacher - Infant room - July 2021 - November 2021 - primarily left by myself with 4-5 infants at a time.

Nanny - August 2023 to April 2024 - 1 boy, 9 months old when started.

Along with many occasional babysitting jobs, starting in 2015.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Encouraging activities for cognitive growth, we will paint and color, do sensory activities, messy play, and reading of course. After learning to walk, we will spend LOTS of time exploring outside and learning how the world works around us.

Story times and play groups are always a great option for rainy days!

The most important part about being a nanny...

As a care provider, I am spending a lot of the child's time with them, in their early years of growth and development, sometimes, some of the most important years. I think its important that during those times, when a child's parent can't be around all the time, to have someone who can be there for the child in a similar way, but also teach the child that they are going to be okay on their own. Leaving a child in someone else's care can be scary, for both the parent and the child, and a compassionate care taker can take away some of those worries.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Honestly, when a child is excited that I am there to see them, and they aren't too upset when their parent leaves, is one of my favorite things. It takes awhile to build that bond and trust between a child, and any new person, so when we finally have our break, I feel pretty accomplished.
