I was a first grade teacher for 5 years (I loved it!). I also taught 5th grade and Kindergarten. Previously, I worked in a daycare where I helped young learners from ages 6 weeks-preschool over the course of 2 1/2 years. Before my professional experience I babysat, was a camp counselor, and assistant teacher for preschool. I have 17 years of experience working with children.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I like to plan activities based on the children that I care for. I like to find out what their likes/dislikes are and plan from there. It is important to me to help them learn through their own curiosity. I am a strong advocate for hands on learning and play. Play is developmentally important for children to learn social skills, problem solving skills, and emotional regulation. I also like to incorporate movement, music, and art into my plans.

The most important part about being a nanny is connections. I value getting to know the family that I am working with so that I can best serve their little one(s). Additionally, I work hard to establish a positive and warm relationship with the child(ren) so that they feel welcomed, loved, and safe.

During my time as a first grade teacher I had the unique opportunity to work with children that had IEPs, 504s, and learning accommodations. It is imperative that each child has equal opportunities to set and achieve personal and academic goals.
