A little bit about me

Hi! I am twenty-two, I am CPR and First-Aid Certified. I have some experience with kids, I used to babysit on occasion for my aunt and watched my four cousins- ages from about a year to thirteen. I was a nanny for a family of a sweet four-year-old boy and their loving dog. I was with them for nearly two years, I loved being around for him and helping him, as well as tidying up the house when needed. I would take their dog for a walk as often as I could, and do as much as I can for all of them! But now, I am looking to help out a family who needs someone! I will do anything between meal prep, cleaning, diaper changes, getting them up for the day, putting them down for a nap, putting them to bed for the night, playing, painting, drawing, reading with them, going for walks, or whatever else they like to do or what you would need me to do!

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Things I enjoy doing with kids are going on walks, maybe look for bugs or a certain color on the way, going to the park to let their energy out, taking them to a museum or other interactive center, gardening, painting, drawing, side walk chalk, reading to them or reading together if they are able to, setting up a couch fort to have a chill day and watch movies, let them help me bake or cook, and just about anything a kid loves doing.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, being their friend is the most important part and most rewarding. A nanny steps in when the parents can’t be there, but I don’t want the kids to just see me as an authority figure. I want them to be happy to see me and have me around, to want to spend time with me because they know they’ll have a good time. Whether that involves learning, playing, being creative, whatever it may be- I want them to feel safe and want to have fun. It doesn’t mean there’s no structure or boundaries, but just that I’m someone that has to be there that wants to be there to see them.

My experience with special needs children...

The last family I was a nanny for has a boy who has sensory processing disorders and a speech delay. When I first started working with them, he was almost completely non-verbal. He could say maybe a total of five words (mama, dada, no, water). Because of this, he would get upset pretty quickly since he couldn’t quite connect the words to how he was feeling. Over the course I was there, I was with him whenever mom or dad wasn’t and he was also going to therapies during the week. He still gets frustrated, but he speaks so much better and can say so many more words now. He expresses himself so much so it’s easier to understand what he needs or wants.
