More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
In college, I completed my field placements in 2nd grade and 4th grade classrooms where I assisted the teacher with daily tasks, managed classroom behavior and tutored individual students. Every summer in college, I was a camp counselor for a day camp for elementary students and loved every minute of my time at camp! My third summer there I also worked as our art specialist where I got to teach new art projects every week! After graduating college in 2020, I took a unique job working as a classroom lead for students from Title 1 schools completing virtual learning but who could not stay home due to their parents work. I planned lessons to assist with their socio-emotional development and provided tutoring as needed. I then moved to Ashland, MT where I was an AmeriCorps/JVC member. I was placed at St. Labre Elementary School. There I was the first grade class aide, kindergarten music teacher and HS Girl's assistant basketball coach. I now work for Big Brothers Big Sisters!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When working with older kids, I love to be outside with kids whenever possible! Bike riding, walks, playing sports, and drawing with chalk are some activities I enjoy but I am always up for new ideas! Inside, I enjoy reading books with kids, baking, and playing games. Most of all, I enjoy doing what the child loves because I find when their passion is showing that is when they are most engaged and we have the best time together!
When working with babies and toddlers, I also enjoy taking them outside for walks, bringing a play mat outside and generally letting them explore all the senses the outdoors has to offer! Indoors, I like to play music, read books, and play with sensory toys!

The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part of being a nanny is remembering that each child is different and the importance of taking time to understand each child and their individual needs, personality, and behavior. I have found that there is truly no one size fits all method for working with children. I really value the beginning of forming a relationship with the child because we learn so much about each other. I also believe in the importance of the family unit when nannying. Whatever family may look like, it is important to me that I am involving everyone in the family.
My experience with special needs children...
My sophomore year of college [phone number hidden]) I worked with a family and their 5 year old son who suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was 6 months old and suffered many developmental delays. I came over a few times a week to give his parents time to do things they needed to do. When I was there, I would work with his parents, Occupational Therapist, and Physical Therapist to learn different strategies and practices to aid him in his day to day life. I administered his evening medication, often mixing them with his food. Together, we loved to read books, swing on his swing set, and work on household chores like sweeping and mopping.
