Hi there! I'm Meli (short for Melissa), a grounded, playful, and nurturing presence who believes childhood should be slow and rooted. I'm bilingual in English and Spanish and love weaving both languages into everyday play. Children remind us to be present and find magic in simple things like a leaf or a puddle, and I love protecting that instead of rushing them past it. My care for kids began as a big sister to siblings 10+ years younger, and for the past year I've taught nature-based, Waldorf-inspired learning at White Pine Wilderness Academy, ages 3-12. I'm CPR/First Aid certified and bring calm, patient supervision. I see each child as already whole, needing space and loving guidance to grow into themselves, and I'm honored to be a guide, mentor, and villager in that process. In my free time I garden, forage, track wildlife, and practice archery. I'm looking for a family who wants a true partner in their child's growth, built on trust, consistency, and open communication.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I'm a Forest School Instructor at White Pine Wilderness Academy, where I work with kids ages 3–12. I've designed curriculum for our youngest groups (ages 3–6), led a pathway camp week, and opened our days with circle time. I was also an instructor for Next Gen Farmers, a summer farming camp for ages 10–18. My caregiving roots go back to being a big sister to siblings 10+ years younger, helping raise them from babies.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Trust and safety. Parents need to know their child is safe, seen, and cared for the way they would care for them. Being a mentor, caretaker & safe space for them to grow into their own beings. That comes from consistency, honest communication, and truly getting to know each child. Kids need to feel they can be fully themselves with me, and parents need to feel at peace while they're away.

The most important part about being a nanny...

At forest school, a group of my little ones and I were out by the river and worked together to make boats out of natural materials they found. I guided them on what they could use, what floats and how they can put materials together using mud. Watching them use their imagination, find rocks, and work together to make mud soup reminded me why I love slowing down with kids and letting them lead their own discoveries.
