A little bit about me

Hi! I'm a mother of 4, and my "baby" just graduated from high school. I have no grandkids yet, so I'm looking to fill my time and spend time with babies. We were foster parents for 20 years and have had many children come through our home, 2 of whom we adopted. Our last foster daughter left right before covid and we closed our license at that time, so I miss having little ones around and would love to help with your kids until I am lucky enough to have grandkids of my own! My BA is in psychology and my husband is a therapist so I'm trauma informed. I was also a children's pastor for 10 years, and a foster care trainer and licensing worker for 5 years. I'm trained in NMC (neurosequential model of caregiving) and very familiar with TBRI (trust based relational intervention). I just love holding babies and singing to them or playing games and reading books to toddlers. I do have allergies, unfortunately, and so can't work in homes with cats or in smokers' homes. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I babysat since age 11, worked at a daycare in college, had over 2 dozen foster children over the past 20 years, raised 2 bio and 2 adopted kids, was a children's pastor for 10 years, and just love kids in general!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love taking them to the park, pool, or splash pads and doing active fun things. I also love reading them books and playing games or singing songs together. Teaching them to cook or play piano is also fun!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Showing children they are unconditionally loved and that they can feel safe with you.

My experience with special needs children...

Many (most) of our foster kids throughout the years had special needs, from Autism to ADHD to attachment disorders and trauma issues. Each child is unique and has to be met where they are at. Finding the needs behind the behaviors and meeting those needs is the most important thing.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I've haven't been a nanny since college, so that's hard to remember, but I just love the moments of excitement on kids faces when they learn something new and the smiles when they are proud of doing something for you, and the hugs when they know they are loved.
