I spent my high school, college, and graduate school years providing babysitting and nannying services for many families. I also was an overnight summer camp counselor for girls ages 8-16 for 5 years.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love being outside and think it is essential for kids to be outside for part of their day. I am also very creative and love doing different arts and craft projects at varying levels depending on children's ages. I crochet and do other crafts in my free time, so have a lot of planning and teaching crafts to others. I also play guitar and love to sing, I especially think that young children thrive hearing soft acoustic music throughout their day.

The most important part about being a nanny is working together with parents to determine their parenting goals so that I can work within their boundaries to create a consistent and thoughtful home for the children in my care.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I remember a child was hungry for lunch and while it was being prepared, started to throw a fit. I bent down, told him that lunch would be ready in 10 minutes and that while it was ok to be hungry and frustrated it was not ok to hit me. He turned and said with the most serious face and a slight 3 year old lisp, "I, am, fwusterwated" then gave me a hug and waited patiently. It was equally cute and rewarding to see that, by speaking to him with respect, getting down on his level, and maintaining a boundary, he understood what was expected, vocalized his emotion, and went on with his day.
