A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Amia, and I’m 19 years old. I grew up in a family deeply involved in education, my mom owned a private K–12 school,and as I got older, I regularly helped care for younger children, including many with special needs. I am autistic myself, which allows me to better understand, support, and connect with children on the autism spectrum. I have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America since the age of 12, where I learned many important life and safety skills. I was also part of my school’s FIRST Robotics team throughout most of my middle and high school years, and I continue to volunteer with FIRST today. Through these experiences, I am frequently around children and teens and truly enjoy working with and mentoring youth. Which also allows me to have a background in STEM. I am patient, understanding, and passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children.
