The most important part about being a nanny...

When a child I nannied for a year had a friend over for a play date, about an hour into the play date she was very upset but wouldn't say why. Of course I tried to take the initiative while playing with them to keep them both happy and involved, but for some reason she was still upset no matter what game we played. Finally after about two hours of the silent treatment she said very upset "maybe you should go nanny her instead since you like each other so much!". It was at that moment that I realized she was upset because I was giving her friend the attention she is used to getting and she doesn't like to share. This is my favorite moment because I was oblivious, I knew the type of friendship we have built over the year and this moment showed that she appreciated me and can get
a bit territorial since I was her nanny.
