A little bit about me

Hello there-my name’s Amida! I have a deep passion in caring for infants & children! I always knew it was my calling as I grew up being able to relate & get along well with children. Friends & family would tell me that I’m like a “kid magnet”! It has been observed that children seem to gravitate towards me whether we are at the playground, a school event or a party! They’ll naturally seem more comfortable to chat with me!
I’m currently employed as a full time backup caregiver, meaning I visit different homes (sometimes will repeat) and care for babies and children ranging from the ages of 6 weeks to 16 years old.
As far as my experience goes, I have over 4 years of experience in caring for infants/kids in their homes. I am a certified teaching assistant/paraprofessional that has over a year of experience working as a TA in a private kindergarten classroom in a hybrid daycare/academy. I’m also a mother to 1 son! Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like to engage kids by singing/dancing to music, arts and crafts, educating them on their letters, numbers, shapes and colors.

I have observed that many children prefer doing imaginary play with me- that would entertain them for hours at hand. All we need is to brainstorm a story line, grab a few stuffies/figurines and the rest is history! Would legit keep them off the electronics for hours!!!!

Definitely open to outdoors… walks, picnics, pool, beaches, park, aquarium … whatever wherever needed! I don’t mind.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part to get me through the day is that I try to look through the lenses of the child’s current perspective and attempt to feel/sympathize with them that way. I try to remember what it was like for myself when I wanted something at their same tender age. I attempt my best to do a healthy balance of give and take. It makes your job more meaningful- to be able to gently teach children about the pros and cons in life- do’s and don’ts, mannerisms and etc!

My experience with special needs children...

I have about less than a year of experience working with special needs children. I have worked with only a handful thus far.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My most favorite part about caring for babies and children is that I get to form a close bond with them as well since I’m spending so many hours of the day tending to them. They instantly become my own too- I’m like their work mom if you will haha! It’s beautiful when the children take care of their Miss Amida in return. Very wholesome for me.
