Hi! My name is Millie Ann and I am the oldest of six children. Ever since I could walk, I have been involved in childcare. As a young child, I grew up with my mother running her own daycare; around age 12, I began to take on my own babysitting contracts; once I turned 16, I started working for the YMCA childcare program. There has never been a time in my life when I have not worked around children, and I have loved every minute of it. I could not imagine myself doing a different job.

I have worked with the Algona Family YMCA Daycare Center for two years, and I have been a contract babysitter off-and-on for the past 6 years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love adventuring outside as much as possible with the kids. Walks, park visits, just running around in the yard; during the winter time I've been known to make some pretty impressive igloos 😉. For indoor activities, I try to encourage pretend-play, creation-play (legos, coloring, etc), and independent-play as much as I can. I try to keep screen time at the same levels the household is already accustomed to unless requested otherwise by parents.

The most important part about being a nanny to me is providing love, safety, and stability to the children in my care.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with kids that have ADHD, ASD, and OCD in the past, as well as Type 1 diabetic kids. Beyond these things, I do not have much experience with special-needs children, but let it be known that I am more than willing to learn anything to ensure your child's safety and happiness.

I myself have low-accommodation ASD and rumination OCD. Neither of these impacts my work, but I believe in full transparency in mental health and disability. If you have any questions, never hesitate to ask.
