Seeing ourselves as a team I have found is the most important part of supporting a household. Ensuring clear communication, agreements on behavior, learning values and goals, and working together to maintain routines and boundaries sets everybody up for success.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with autistic children, children with sensory processing disorder, ADHD children, and children with severe allergies. This is work I truly enjoy. Working as a team to find routines and strategies to assist the child in becoming their best self, and their caregivers to fully understand their needs - is work I am passionate about.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I appreciate joy within chaos, as is bound to happen now and then with children. A baby on my hip, toddlers racing around, while a school age child is cracking eggs to cook us all breakfast; laundry mid folding and dishes partly washed. These moments when there is so much to be done, yet so much already happening. Remembering to slow down and enjoy these moments has not only made me a better caregiver, but also a better person.
