A little bit about me

I am a 37 year old business owner as well as an Instructional Assistant and I work with children who have special needs. I also have passed the Paraprofessional test. I have been a head teacher in the educational child care system as well as an assistant. I am a very creative and energetic person. I love teaching the youth with lesson plans that meet them at their level and that also pushes them to increase their knowledge. I create and carry out these plans using fun and interactive activities. I enjoy cooking, the outdoors, learning new things that increase my knowledge as well as understanding. In my free time I am usually working on new recipes, researching new ways to teach the youth, increasing my relationship with God and spending time with my teenage son.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have cared for children since I was 13 years old. It first started out as babysitting and then I started to incorporate learning and teaching. When I was 16 I began to volunteer at special needs live in home facilities and nursing homes as well. When I was 18 I started private nanny care as well as attending college for criminal justice and working a couple of retail jobs. As I got older I started to work with early childhood education and private childcare facilities. I worked with children on and off the spectrum. The age ranges were 1 month - 21 years old. I currently work with 2 non verbal students. one is 11 years old the other is 16 years of age.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing creative interactive projects with the children and seeing their expressions to something like a volcano eruption or sensory play, treasure hunts for things in nature, nature walks, bike rides, playing sports, cooking, painting, making cool stuff out of materials, I enjoy teaching them new things and watching them get so excited that they understand it.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The child's well being ( mentally, physically and emotionally) is the most important part of bringing a nanny or any career that involves children. As a nanny you are their protector that was trusted by their parents.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience with special needs children from a young age. I have been around and involved in different children's lives since I was 6 years old. Thought my childcare years I have always had at least 2 children with special needs in my classes. currently my school is mostly special needs. I have worked with verbal and non verbal individuals. I have also worked with individuals who have a handicap. ages from 2 months- 22 years old.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I would have to say it was when I started to nanny for one of my old students. She was sleeping when I arrived and when she woke up and saw me she was so excited and gave me the biggest hug and stayed by my side all day. Her mom later asked what her favorite part of the day was and she said seeing Miss Monica
