Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a babysitter from age 13-17, during which I also was a manager at a child birthday party/play place. When I got to college I enrolled in a program called jumpstart where I created lesson plans for children ages 2-4 and implemented them in a classroom setting. Currently I am in my pediatric rotation in nursing school, which means I get to go everywhere from pediatric offices to daycares to hospitals, and it has made me realize how much I miss working with children.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love the outdoors, and took the children I babysat on walks everyday. Young children don’t always realize how much beauty is out there, and how fun it can be to explore. I especially love the woods and finding frogs, snails, mushrooms, and cool rocks! It can be extremely difficult for parents to find time in their busy lives, especially if they have multiple children, to bring them outside, and I hope to be that person for them! I also enjoy indoor activities like painting, playing the floor is lava, and creating sensory activities for younger children. I am constantly searching for new, fun activities to implement. But don’t get me wrong, I love to watch a good movie with the kids at the end of the night!
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children with autism, adhd, add, and down syndrome. I have also worked with elders and adults that have various developmental impairments and would apply this knowledge to children. I am also able to work with children who have special health care needs.
