A little bit about me

I love to participate in arts & crafts and i feel like all kids should be allowed to also. It’s a way of showing emotion and having fun at the same time, while growing their imagination which is an important part of children’s development. I love to explore nature, and view parts of our world that are so beautiful. Even if it’s just playing in the grass🌳🌈 I am a very easy going person, full of love and laughter. I am a high school student, but i do want to work with children in my future, and continue nannying through my college years. I feel i am a reliable, respectful, on time, and a flexible supportive person.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a personal certified sitter, for over 3 years and my most ranged age group is 1-5 years old. I have grew up as an older sister, that has taught me to deal with many emotions in younger children in a more gentle understanding way and more of an understanding of their behaviors.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to do art projects, color, and even spend time in nature. I love to provide fun things to do each time i nanny, and games to play. Ways of reducing screen time that definitely help with child development & is so much fun for the both of us! Although I am not against screen time, screen time can also help some development and shhh i love to watch movies.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I love working with younger children on their development, from speech or to even understanding of their emotions. I have a passion for making this world a better place starting with our younger generation. I want all younger kids & babies to grow up in a gentle world, with people who aren’t so harsh to them and i do that by being a friend. Even if it comes to putting pjs on, let’s sing a song to make it more fun.🎶

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for only 1 autistic toddler, who was by far the sweetest boy i’ve ever met. He enjoyed watching movies, even all the credits which I LOVED! But it always taught me to see things through his eyes, and a different understanding of his feelings. Reading body language, while also helping with his speech development by playing certain games to help sound out certain sounds, and words. Brought so much light and energy to my life.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Omg! Me and one of the children i was a nanny for made special gifts for our moms for mother’s day, and the way he was talking so nicely about his mom, and was so proud to give his mom a homemade gift for mother’s day, warmed my heart. I was so happy i was able to make that happen for him.

Full-Time Nanny Available in Portland, OR: Emerald D.

Hello, I’m Emerald, I’ve worked with kids since my early teens, and have years of experience with kids of all ages in single families, nanny-shares, and daycare facilities.
I studied child development in college and love to put my skills to use caring for children from infants to school-age. I believe it takes a village to raise happy, healthy kids and it’s so beneficial for them to have multiple trusted adults in their life that they can trust and look up to. I currently specialize in infants/toddlers but love every stage of development! Read-aloud/creative imagination games are my forte, and I love to encourage emotional regulation and healthy development through age-appropriate activities. I’m well-versed in weaning/potty-training, as well as all the other fun milestones. I enjoy exploring the world with kids (visiting the library, zoo, etc) to encourage self-confidence/confidence in their community. I am pet-friendly/have no pet or food allergies. I am CPR/first aid certified.
