More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’ve watched various children from ages 1–11 over the past five years. At my church, I’ve worked with 2-and 3-year-olds during services. I volunteered as a camp counselor-in-training specifically for second and third graders. The year after, I worked as a camp counselor for various ages, but primarily 4-and 5-year-olds. I regularly work as a date-night sitter for a few families.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When it comes to kids, it's really crucial that they have a sense of the importance of their interests and that I can nurture them wherever they are. Whether it may be building blocks or Legos, doing sports, baking, crafts, playing pretend, reading books, or watching something, I want the children I care for to know that I find value in their preferences. As their caretaker, I want to use their area of interest to give them opportunities to develop their skills and brains. Opportunities are everywhere with children, but it takes a sense of humility and open-mindedness to reach their fullest potential as a caretaker. God has put it on my heart to teach those younger than me that He has put in my care, and I seek to use every opportunity He provides to do that.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a safe person is the most important part of being a caretaker. Being safe means being someone with whom they can come to with anything because they feel comfortable and respected. It also means that I will seek to keep them safe, especially when they can't. For example, if a child is about to touch a hot stove, they might be upset and cry because I tell them not to, and—depending on the age of the child—might move them away from the danger. In that instance, they may perceive me as an unsafe person because I'm not letting them do what they want. However, it's only for their safety. While being good friends with the kids you watch is a blessing and something all good caretakers should actively strive towards, your job, first and foremost, is to keep them safe.

Hi, I’m Shay! I am still in high-school but I’ve been raised to watch after my younger siblings so I do know what it’s like to babysit. I’ve just came here to look for a job that would work for me and to help grownups out so they can enjoy some time with their spouse among other things. Sadly I do not have my drivers license but I would be able to get rides by my mother.

Hi! I am a junior at ETSU. I have nannied for three years now, and have been babysitting for almost six! I am returning to college after taking a year off after my sophomore year to work full time at an elementary school as a reading interventionist! I am 21 years old. My parents live in Knoxville, TN, with my three school aged siblings. I have four sisters and one brother, all younger than me. My brother is three years old, so I am used to the chaos that is toddlers on a daily basis! 3 of my siblings are foster-to-adopt, so I am also well acquainted with the foster/adoption system and all the legalities that come with it!
