The most important part about being a nanny...
Being present for the kids. While some babysitters just wait out the time and watch the kids, I think it's important to spend time with them. Give them the space to be curious, creative, and fun.

My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with babysitting a neurodivergent 5-year-old.
I could instantly see she was a bright and lovely kid, she just had different ways of communicating, and she saw the world and had difficulties handling her emotions.
Her meltdowns were pretty explosive, but I was able to help her come down from her episodes and cool her down.

My favorite nanny moment was when I had to leave the kids I was babysitting for after graduating. I didn't expect them to get as emotional as they did. They expressed how much they loved spending time with me, and that touched me.
