Infants & Toddlers - I love to read and sing with babies. They are just becoming alert to their environment, and in the short windows of time you have when they’re awake, not eating, and feeling groovy, engaging with them directly through books and songs is the most incredible way to see how much their brains are growing every single day.
Toddlers & Preschoolers - Little kids so love the excitement of DISCOVERY, and they’re finally mobile enough to put that urge into action. My favorite activities with kids at these ages are trips out of the house at any scale - neighborhood walks, nature walks at the forest preserve, trips to the library and pool/splash pad, etc!
School-aged - Big kids tend to be big enough to know what they want to do, but not quite big enough yet to do it on their own. My favorite things to do with big kids is to see what they’re into and facilitate it with adult direction. I love to hear a kid describe an inspiring idea and see how we can make it happen.

The most important part about being a nanny...
It is a lot easier to jump if you know someone will catch you if you don’t make it. A kid who knows they will be caught will jump earlier, jump further and faster. Nine times out of ten they won’t even need to be caught but for most kids to try hard enough to succeed, they need to know you are there. It is important to me to encourage children to jump, literally and figuratively, and stand ready to catch them should they need it so they can grow up strong and brave and build themselves happy lives. Should we be a match, I hope to be a lifelong friend to both you and your kids, and be another adult who they can rely on long into their own adulthood to be there to catch them should they ever need it.
