I do have past experience with a young man who has special needs. However, this was around 20 years ago.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was working with a child with special needs. He could be difficult to get through to and hard to keep in one spot. I noticed the family had a piano in their home, so one day I went over and started playing on the piano with the child next to me. I saw that he took a liking to the piano. I found a play by numbers learning book and immediately taped numbers on all the keys so that the child would hopefully get more interested. Within a week he memorized the whole book. His mother put him in piano lessons and not too long after that he was playing in recitals. It was absolutely amazing.

I am forensic by nature and love problem solving. If a child is acting out I try to figure out why. My friend call me the "baby charmer". Babies rarely if ever cry when I take care of them and love on them and spend one on one time with them. How I am with each child depends on their age and circumstances. I had a little brother with severe Cerebral Palsy and have several friends with special needs children and twins. I work closely with the parent to teach or discipline the children in the same way the parent does so the child is not confused about where boundaries lie or what is expected of them. I do not drink alcohol, smoke and have never tried drugs. I have a great church and friends and that is where I spend some of my time. I have plenty of references if needed upon your request.
