A little bit about me

I'm 16 years old and currently in high school, but have casually babysat for my aunt for 6 years. I grew up in a household crowded with family, many children younger than me so I've gained many skills working with children from newborns to elementary schoolers.
I'm a great cleaner, understand directions very well, adaptive with children of any personality, and can cook/bake/meal prep. As well, I can be active for long periods of time and love the sun and swimming, so no problem outside running around or chilling in the pool!
I also am someone with high-functioning ASD and ADHD (Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder). I've babysat children low on these spectrums/non medicated and have learned to adapt to their different behaviors and interests, and will do my best to understand and care for your children with these disorders.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Outdoor wise, I love swimming and playing with nerf guns or waterguns. Indoors, video games, board games, dressup, and playing with figures/toys are all things I enjoy doing.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Most important part of being a nanny is understanding children are still people. If they can communicate, they just want to talk to you like you're both people. It's important to still have a filter around kids, but it's good to talk to them like they're someone you've known for a bit rather than like a puppy or baby who can't understand you.

My experience with special needs children...

I've grown up and babysat children on the ASD and ADHD spectrum, as well as few with possible OCD. As someone high-functioning on these spectrums myself, I work well with these children and love them just as equally as neurotypical kids!

The most important part about being a nanny...

When my aunt's son, Landon, was 7 we were painting outside. He kept hiding his drawing from me and wouldn't let me see it. I let him do his thing, be all secretive. The next morning (I stayed over), I rolled over and saw an adorable letter and drawing for me telling me how much he loved me. It was so cute I actually teared up. Ordered him lunch as a thank you.
