A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Olivia and I am currently a 28 year old nanny of three children in Winchester Massachusetts. Since August of 2020 I have been working full time with one incredible family. It’s been a wonderful experience seeing the ins and outs of a growing family and I’ve had the opportunity to share my time with their adopted, fostered, and biological children. I’ve appreciated every moment this family has included me in and if I could extend the time of my job longer I would, but children grow and I am looking to begin my own family soon too. While I’ve babysat since I was 13 and cared for children between 0-15, my most recent experience is with 0-9. My responsibilities include, but are not limited to: cooking, cleaning, transportation, bottle-feeding, bathing, and sometimes caring for pets. More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

What I’ve always loved is being able to enjoy activities for kids of a wide range of ages. In the summer the kids and I take advantage of splash pads, community pools, playgrounds, farms, trails, beaches, zoos, and museums on the hot days. In the winter we will play outside in the snow, sled, visit public libraries, jump around at indoor trampoline parks, and visit some more museums. It’s been important for me to have the children interact with peers and enjoy some physical activity, learning new things all the while. For the past 3 years I’ve assisted two young children in the pool during their swim lessons and it’s been such a joy to see them advance month after month. My goal is to keep the children outside in the fresh air even on the coldest days. We’ll bundle up and enjoy the sunshine all year long!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is being flexible. No one day is the same and I wake up every morning wondering what new thing each child has learned and will teach me upon my arrival. Kids grow quickly and it’s important to remind myself that I can’t expect behaviors and habits to be the same day after day. Even schedules change due to naps, activities, the weather, and temperaments. While it can be challenging, it is also what makes this job so rewarding and special.

My experience with special needs children...

In my current position I’ve worked with two boys, one in the foster system, and one who had the chance to become legally adopted at the age of 1.5 years old. After almost 5 years I’ve seen one boy fight tooth and nail to become the incredible kid he is today. His challenges include PTSD, anxiety, and learning difficulties caused by severe trauma prior to his adoption. With my background in psychology I was able to understand his feelings and emotions and handle them in such a way as to not cause anymore stress or worry. He is a wonderful boy who has learned to cope with his trauma and I am so grateful to have been a part of his healing journey.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Was having the chance to hold the sweet girl I care for the day she came home from the hospital. Knowing that I had the opportunity to watch her grow was a beautiful gift and it’s a moment that I will never take for granted!
