The most important part about being a nanny to me is having empathy and being understanding, knowing that kids are learning and exploring and they have little knowledge of the world around them so it’s important to see the world from their perspective to help guide them, teach them, and be their friend!
My experience with special needs children...
I have little experience with special needs children. I was a shadow for a 3 year old with autism at a daycare for about a month until his family moved. I helped him eat, gave him emotional support and cuddles when he was sad, made sure he didn’t put any small items in his mouth, and redirected him when he needed it.
