More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have 10 years experience working with children. I've worked in childcare centers, private households, and healthcare settings with ages ranging from infancy to elementary. The majority of my experience is as a substitute childcare teacher at Bright Horizons, where I was personally responsible for the care of 3 to 4 infants/toddlers at a time. I am well versed in the emotional and developmental needs of infants and toddlers and feel that I would be a great fit for your family. For the past year, I have been the part time nanny for a family of three lovely girls ages 2-7, and am looking to find either more part time work or a full time long term position.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
absolutely love to sing and utilize music so I often perform fingerplays (ex. baby bumblebee, five little ducks, etc.). During tummy time I like to let them explore via touch with either a sensory book or lining up textured objects for them to play with. Playing with baby in the mirror is also one of my favorites because I can point out body parts and play hide n seek games to build body awareness. For older infants I like to use/create a mystery box filled with different textured cloths, soft toys, and noisy objects that they can reach into and explore. Another favorite that can be done with infants or toddlers is painting with ice, I'll use either blended fruit or child-safe paint for the colors and let the child have fun painting until the ice melts.DIY instruments are easy to make and fun to use with older infants and toddlers.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Like many child care providers, I adore children. I find genuine fulfillment in what I do and I put my all into catering to every family's individual needs. Children are voracious learners. They’re the world’s smallest scientists and engineers. Providing them a structured space to conduct their experiments should be at the forefront of any society that places even the most marginal importance on its youth.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for children with developmental delays in motor skills and speech. During those times I worked alongside early intervention specialist to design curriculum and routines that supported my clients developmental needs.
