In the summer of 2024, I worked as a lead counselor at the Greater Midland Community Center summer camps, where I had the incredible opportunity to guide and care for groups of children in a fun, active, and supportive environment. As a lead counselor, I was responsible for planning daily activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of the kids, and creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere for everyone. I absolutely loved building relationships with the campers, helping them grow in confidence, and watching them have fun through games, crafts, and outdoor adventures. This experience strengthened my passion for working with children and gave me valuable leadership and communication skills that I carry into every childcare role.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
While babysitting, I love keeping kids engaged with fun and age-appropriate activities. I enjoy doing arts and crafts, reading books, playing outside, and organizing creative games like pretend play or building with blocks. I’m also happy to help with routines like snack time, tidying up, or winding down with a story or quiet activity. If the family has pets, I’m comfortable including them in our day as well. My goal is always to create a safe, fun, and positive environment where kids feel happy and supported.

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is building real connections with the kids. It’s not just about supervising them it’s about creating a bond where they feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. When kids know they can trust you and be themselves around you, it opens the door for learning, laughter, and growth. I love getting to know each child’s unique personality, interests, and quirks, and creating a positive environment where they feel seen and valued every day.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One funny moment that happened while babysitting was when I let the kids play dress-up, and they decided I needed a makeover too. Before I knew it, I was wearing a sparkly tutu over my jeans, a tiara, and about five bracelets on each arm. They took their “stylist” roles very seriously complete with a “fashion show” where I had to walk the hallway runway while they clapped and played music from a toy piano. It was all in good fun, and we laughed the whole time. Safe to say, I’ve never looked more fabulous!
