A little bit about me

My experience includes one year as a nanny for a baby boy. I cared for him from age seven months through 19 months. After he started preschool, I nannied for an 11-year-old boy and his two-year-old sister. With parents' permission, I introduce baby sign language to support language development, introduce early reading/printing skills to preschoolers, and take tasteful, appropriate, professional level photos that I share only with parents. I have a BA in speech communications and extensive experience in children's theater, making me great at reading and imaginative play. My art background helps me come up with fun projects even for infants, and I can assist with homework, school projects, distance learning, and early speech, reading, and printing skills. I adhere to all applicable COVID-19 precautions and have my own reliable transportation. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a volunteer and later a paid substitute teacher at a school for children with disabilities, taught theatre at a summer camp, and was a teacher's aide working with children with Down syndrome, autism, and other developmental disabilities at my children's elementary school.

Activities I enjoy doing with children include drawing, painting, reading, picnics, having conversations, playing charades and word games, going to the park and for walks.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing about being a nanny is that it's an opportunity to step in for parents to give loving and individualized care to their kids. For me, it's been a privilege, and when a baby's grandparents used to bring me candy whenever they visited and when one of them told me that her grandson had the "right nanny," I felt like one of the family.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children includes being a teacher's aide where I worked one-on-one with children with Down syndrome and autism, and I was a volunteer and later, a substitute teacher at a school for children with disabilities. In addition to that, my adult daughter is on the autism spectrum.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was when the baby boy I was taking care of stood up in his crib for the first time. I was with him and took a picture so that his parents could see it, too. I edited the photo later to look like a watercolor painting and gave it to his parents.
