A little bit about me

I am an audiologist by trade, love children and the elderly, adventurous grandmother (GIGI) of three, crafter by day and really enjoy being active. My passion is working with special needs. Worked at Center for Developmental Disabilities I am 55, retired from a day job, energetic and quite outgoing. Of course, I LOVE newborns and would be delighted to rock yours to sleep, go on a stroller ride, etc. If your child needs help with articulation, math, reading, spelling, learning to sew or just LOVES crafts and the outdoors, I am your person. I enjoy painting, tennis, sewing, cake decorating, working out, volunteering, sailing and traveling. I did hold a teaching license earlier in my career. FUN FACT! I have lived for 3 years in Japan, a few in Switzerland and most recently 4 years in the Netherlands. My girls graduated from International School of Amsterdam. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have three grandchildren. One lives in the Netherlands and she is 20 months so I fly back-and-forth as much as I can afford. My other two live in Nashville and are one and five. I love taking care of each and everyone and wish they lived closer.. I’ve had a lot of experience with many children and elderly and I think I stated that in my profile happy to chat about anything.

My experience with special needs children...

My favorite! I worked for the center for developmental disabilities In Memphis years ago as a student and then intern. I have worked with more than I can count volunteer agencies across the world for special needs. My aunt had cerebral palsy and my cousin has down syndrome, so I grew up thinking that was almost the norm. I loved hanging out with them and playing. That’s the reason why I chose audiology as my field of study..

The most important part about being a nanny...

Oh, I probably have a lot of funny ones. We lived four years in Ladue, Missouri and I always “hung out” 🤣 with our neighbors children one who is special needs. He was Five, very very mobile but had a feeding tube and for some reason loved pickle juice. I provided a surprise Easter egg hunt for the family. I placed all the eggs in my yard and brought them over. Of course, one of them could not have any candy, but I had small prizes and then TINY TINY frozen pickle juice contraptions in some. The smile on this child’s face… There are no words to describe….. and their parents… Well, let’s just say that I went to the university of Arkansas and was a recruiter. About a year later, I received in the mail personalized university of Arkansas tennis shoes from Nike with my name on them from them. I always wondered why in the world that dad would always ask me what type of shoe I wore and then to see if the wife and I wore the same.. I still laugh at this moment and chat with them often.
