The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a nanny is a deeply important role because children will always remember the people who made them feel comfortable being themselves, championed their creativity, and supported them through every emotion and exciting milestone. Building trust with both the children and their family is something I truly value, because when that trust exists, kids are able to grow, learn, and most importantly have fun in a supportive environment.
The most important part about being a nanny...
At a previous nanny job, there was a bird’s nest on the family’s porch filled with eggs, and the three boys I cared for became completely fascinated by it. Every day, we would put out “bird food” for the mama bird, and the boys spent hours searching for the perfect blades of grass, sticks, and other materials they hoped she would use for her nest. For days, we sat quietly on the porch waiting to see if she would notice their carefully chosen “gifts,” but nothing happened. Eventually, the boys started to lose hope. Then one afternoon, the mama bird suddenly flew down to the porch ledge where everything had been laid out. One by one, she picked up the grass, sticks, and food and carried them back to her nest until nothing was left. That same day, all of her eggs hatched into baby birds. Watching the boys’ excitement, patience, and genuine care for this tiny family of birds was incredibly special, and it remains one of my favorite memories working with children.
