More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
After the treatment home closed down, and I was re-assigned to the shelter, a transitional living center where new foster kids would stay while waiting to find foster families. Here, I worked along side 2 or 3 other staff members to orchestrate structure and a sense of normality for up to 25 children between the ages of 5-18.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Arts and crafts, nature hunts, science experiments, learning games, playing at the park, riding bikes, scooters and other adventures as they organically arise.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure each child feels safe, loved, and important creates an environment that helps a child flourish and become their best selves. I strive to teach each child I encounter how to become Peaceful Love Warriors who will hopefully grow up to create a better future for themselves and those around them.
My experience with special needs children...
I have extensive experience working directly with children with a variety of special needs. This ranges from children experiencing severe autism, fetal alcohol syndrome, ADD/ADHD/ODD/OCD/RAD, schizophrenia, psychosis, as well as other challenges.
I have acquired an abundance of training, tactics, and techniques to help any kid, regardless of their unique gifts and challenges.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One time, a 5yo girl from the shelter became very attached to me. She would get really upset when it was time for me to leave at the end of my shift.
One day she decided she was going to leave with me. Before I clocked out, she climbed inside my backpack and had someone zip it up for her.
Of course I knew something was up when my backpack suddenly weighed 40+ extra pounds. When I opened the bag she said "No! I want to go home with you! Take me with you!"
The experience was endearing and heartbreaking at the same time and serves as confirmation to myself that I am creating a lasting positive influence on every child/ teen I meet.
