One of my most memorable moments as a nanny was with a little boy who was incredibly nervous about starting preschool. On his first day, he clung to my hand, too anxious to join the other kids. Instead of pushing him, I sat with him on a bench, watching the playground from a safe distance. We talked about the games the other children were playing, and I could see his curiosity growing. After a while, he spotted a group of kids playing with a ball and wanted to join. I walked him over, and after a bit of hesitation, he let go of my hand and joined in. By the end of the day, he was running around, laughing, and had made new friends. The next morning, he walked confidently into the playground without needing my hand. Watching his transformation from fear to excitement was incredibly rewarding, and it reminded me of the positive impact I can have on the children I care for.
