Hi! My name is Rachael Dinneen, and I’m 20 years old with four years of childcare experience, including three years in daycare and one year as a nanny. Growing up in a big family of ten helped shape my love for working with kids and taught me responsibility and patience from a young age.
I’m a hands-on caregiver who enjoys planning creative activities that support each child’s learning and development while making sure they feel safe and supported. In my current nanny position, I’ve cared for one child since he was three months old, and my role will be ending in April as the mom transitions to being a stay-at-home parent.

Play is another essential part of my approach, as it not only fosters social and emotional growth but also makes learning fun. Additionally, reading is something I prioritize, as it builds language skills, sparks curiosity, and nurtures a love for learning. Through these activities, I aim to create an enriching environment that allows children to grow while having fun.

The most important thing about being a nanny is providing a safe, nurturing environment where children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow. A nanny should build a strong, trusting relationship with both the child and the family, ensuring that their needs are met while fostering emotional, intellectual, and social development.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of the most rewarding moments in my teaching career was working with a child who initially struggled with frustration and disruptive behavior. I spent extra one-on-one time with him, setting clear boundaries and using positive reinforcement. I also tailored activities to his interests, especially art, to help him express himself.

The breakthrough came during a group art activity when he became frustrated but instead of reacting negatively, he took a deep breath and asked for help. This moment of self-regulation marked a shift in his behavior, and by the end of the year, his social interactions improved, and he became more engaged in class. Seeing his growth was incredibly fulfilling and reinforced the power of patience and support in helping children navigate challenges.
