A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Rachel Keener, I am a 2023 graduate of Whitwell High School and I plan to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Development in the near future. I have been employed in 2 different childcare centers. One being a local daycare for 13 months and Head Start for 2 years! While working for these companies, I have gained hundreds of hours of experience, training and knowledge. I received my infant/toddler Child Development Associates Credential (CDA) in March of 2025 while actively attending Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) classes at Chattanooga State, receiving my TECTA certification in March of 2025 as well. I also babysit for those around me locally! I would love to further my hands on experience with childcare by caring for your littles while providing the best possible care and lots of love!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at a local daycare as a floater in age ranges of 6 weeks to 4 years and several Head Start locations in age ranges 2-3 as Lead Teacher and preschool as Teacher Assistant!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love exploring the outdoors and doing crafts with all of my littles.

Some examples of activities I have done with one child I babysit are hunting for blackberries, making lemonade, baking, playing outside, going to the park and general crafts!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is allowing the child to be themselves while also implementing boundaries. Teaching critical life skills at a young age, having fun and making messes!

My experience with special needs children...

As an employee of Head Start you become equipped with knowledge of special needs children very quickly. Over the years I have experienced several children with autism, speech therapy, and even children involved with DCS.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nannying moment would be:

I was babysitting a child I had in one of my classes (in-home) and they begged for hours to make lemonade. I didn’t have any lemons! I ran to the store and left child with mom while they took a nap. When child woke up from nap I had everything ready to make lemonade with them before they went to church! The smile on their face was priceless!
