Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am an avid reader and I enjoy sharing my love for reading with children. I also enjoy getting kids involved in day to day, practical tasks such as cleaning, meal preparation and pet care. I believe there is joy to be found in taking care of seemingly mundane but necessary tasks. Cultivating a sense of responsibility, gratitude and a mindset where being of service to self and to others is essential in my life so I enjoy activities that focus reflect that. Creativity and fun are equally as essential for children and adults alike which is why activities such as painting, arts and crafts, playground games, board games and video games are also a source of joy. Ultimately, I believe in following the child and supporting their ideas of fun when appropriate.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being a positive role model. At the end of the day the job is about showing children a healthy example to look at as far as being a responsible, loving, well adjusted person. I believe as long as you’re doing that you can’t go wrong.
My experience with special needs children...
I have provided care for children with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, fetal alcohol syndrome and muscular dystrophy. I’m open to learning how to provide care for any child including those without a diagnosis. I have previously provided care for children labeled as medically fragile without a clear diagnosis.
The most important part about being a nanny...
they have definitely been a lot of big developmental moments that should probably be my favorite but honestly I think my favorite was a silly moment. It was the first time my nanny baby repeated one of my behaviors, I kind of sighed and he did the same thing and I just thought it was the funniest little thing.
