I'm Rayne, a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a degree in both Psychology and Social Development, where I competed in varsity Cheer. I have worked at 3 daycares and 1 nanny position with children ages 0-12 (including newborn/infant care), and have experience working with high needs children. My family runs a foster home, so I have lots of experience working with a variety of children of different ages, needs, and backgrounds!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked as an Early Childhood Educator for ages 15mo-4yrs (6years), daycare school aged summer camp (2yrs), a Supply Educational Assistant/Child/Youth Worker with 2 elementary school boards (1 yr), and a Live-Out Nanny (1 year). My family also runs a foster home for high needs children from 0-12, and ran a licensed home daycare before that, so I have been working with kids for most of my life!
I currently volunteer with the KWSP Humane Society, taking care of cats/kittens as young as 1 week old!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I prioritize the balance of learning and fun, using child-led activities that allow for self driven learning! Outdoor play of any kind, sensory activities, arts/crafts, free-play with open-ended/imaginative toys (ex blocks, cars, dolls, kitchen centres, etc), and more intentional play based toys like puzzles! Most importantly, I take inspiration from the passions/likes of the child, using them to curate unique activities to appropriately engage the little learner!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is trust. Trust that I will be reliable, consistent, confidential, and professional. Also trusting me with your house, pets, and important tasks. Of course trust me with the most important thing in the world, your children, their well-being, and their education. Gaining, building, and maintaining trust is the most important part of our relationship, which is why I believe a nanny should be a loyal and integral part of your family. Not to mention, gaining the trust of a child is the hardest, yet most rewarding part the relationship!

My experience with special needs children...

I have two brothers with autism, have worked as a one-on-one Educational Assistant with children with autism, and aided with my family's foster home with children with special needs!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Definitely love to be able to share my passions with the kids as well! I've taught my kiddos cheer moves, done self care days, gone to the mall together, etc! I love when we can have fun together and bond over that!
