I never worked with special needs kids, but I have babysat my little cousins who has autism. One of my closest friends also does have autism . So I am aware of the actions and patience's needed
The most important part about being a nanny...
Not a nanny moment, but one time during volunteering in a kids basketball camp, I told a kid if he could make 10 layups in a row, i'll let him ride my bike around the park after camp. After making all the layups and camp finished, he quickly ran to my bike and just hopped on it. When his mom came to pick him up, she looked at me with such a shocked amazed face. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me her son spent days trying to learn how to ride a bike. And now suddenly he just was riding my bike. This moment made me feel amazed because with just a little motivation I taught the kid how to ride a bike and make some layups!
