Activities I enjoy doing with children...
For days at home I love arts and crafts and encouraging creativity, even if it can be messy at times. Staying off electronics most of the day and going outside is also very important to me. I also love to try and get out of the house and go to fun new places, even if it's just a park.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is making sure the kids are happy. It sounds cliche, but after being a nanny with the same family for 3 years, I truly can say this is my greatest concern. Watching the boys grow up has been the most fulfilling experience I've had yet because I see the positive impact I helped make.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked at a daycare recently, (which I plan on returning to when home for the summer), which had a high rate of special needs children. I gained lots of exposure to ADHD and autism and have taken training courses on ways to properly care for these children. My biggest takeaway from this was finding each child has separate needs and different accommodations that work for them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment was when one of my boys drew a picture of his family at school and added me to the drawing. When his teacher asked who the extra person was he said "Nene", which was his nickname for me, and said I was a part of his family.
