A little bit about me

Hello☺️
My name is Robyn, I am the proud mother of three daughters.
My most recent professional experience was with the Wichita Children’s home where I helped young women 12-21 who were pregnant or in the first year of motherhood. I love my job but I have grown weary of working in “the system.”
Moving forward I hope to work with families with whom I can form a bond and truly be helpful in my roll.
My interests include, painting ceramics baking cooking gardening nature music and reading. I am also passionate about all things dogs and children.

My philosophy about caring for children is founded in respect. I understand that children are unique in gifts challenges and natural inclination. In accordance with that understanding I observe carefully and support accordingly. I am hugely flexible with accommodating the interests of both parents and children. My only hard lines concern safety.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently babysit for two children on Saturday every week.

I worked with infants @Wichita Children’s Gerard House maternity home.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Walking swimming exploring in nature cooking/baking museums gardening any and all art projects playgrounds library visits bicycles sensory play. If your child loves a particular activity I will make sure that I support them in doing it.

My experience with special needs children...

My second daughter is on the autism spectrum (high functioning).
I am patient respectful and observant in all interactions with children but more so when I understand that their cues needs and inclination may be atypical.
In my work with infants I have had the occasion to work with children who require medication specific diets and enrichment to support their physical or developmental development.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Working with a young mother to help a child labeled failure to thrive gain weight grow. The day she giggled at me for the first time and responded to play I felt so humbled and proud of her and her mother.
