A little bit about me

My name is Roseanna Weatherford, I go by Rose. I am 54 years old. I have been married for 28 years to the same man. I have 4 adult sons and 3 Grandchildren. I have 10+ years experience in childcare. I am currently a School Coordinator (Administrator) / Preschool Teacher in the Montlake Area of Seattle who would love to babysit in the evenings and on weekends. I have taken Early Childhood Education classes and I have education and experience in Behavioral Intervention Services, with experience and training in non-physical de-esculation techniques. I have worked children from all economic/social backgrounds including children on the Autism Spectrum and have coached parents in all areas of development and behaviors.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I started in Child care in 1995 as a Toddler teacher. I received my Child Development Associate and became a Center Director by 1996 all while attending college full time and having small children at home. I did take a break from child care to work as career development specialist and a home health aide, but there was something missing in my life, it was working with children. I went back working in Child care. I have worked with all age groups and love each developmental stage of a child's growth.
Along with enjoying my time with children, I decided to help those children with development deficiencies by counseling those children with behavioral problems. Self regulation, empathy, respect, kindness, love for self and others and problem solving are areas I have counseled children and parents. Currently I'm back in a child care setting as a school coordinator/administrator for a small center in the Montlake Area where I have carried over my knowledge behavioral Intervention experience.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I have a minor in Liberal art. I enjoy doing art, crafts, engineering a master piece with legos, playing dress up, dancing, singing, playing games, reading, teaching and above all, laughing with children.

The most important part of being with children is caring for them and teaching them to be a productive and a positive influence on society.

My experience with special needs children...

As a behavioral Intervention specialist, I have experience with ADHD, autism, academic delays, developmentally delays due to parental use of drugs and alcohol, anxiety disorders and children with a family history of mental illnesses.

The most important part about being a nanny...

This pertains to something one of the preschool children said to her mother at pick up time. It was mom's birthday and her child made her a necklace. When the child presented it to mom at pick up she said " I made this for you, Mommy. Let's see if it fits you now that you are 34 and not 33. You are older now mom, it may be too small."
Other moments that are special to me, is getting hugs, kisses, hi-fives, fist bumps and "I love you" everyday from the children in my care.
