The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is having a great relationship with the children and parents. This can look like different things based on the age group because children have different needs. Overall, I would say that having a good boundary within that relationship is the most important part. This helps to ensure that lots of fun can happen but when it’s time to wind down and do something for e.g homework, that time is respected as well.

My favorite nanny moment was from a year ago, I was nannying for this family who had two girls, ages 4 and 11. One day while the 11 year old was at karate, I took the 4 year old to the park while we waited for her sister. A quick back story, we used to visit this park regularly most of the kids lived in our building. There was this little boy who lived in the building that would also go to the park however ever since they were babies they would disagree all the time. The boy is so sweet and just the cutest, he always gives the 4 year old gifts and hugs, However she thought it was overbearing to say the least. Their parents loved watching them interact, they said they were like old lovers who quarrel all the time. Moving on, we were at the park for about 30 minutes, The four year old runs over to me and says “ Ry, I think its about that time” signaling that she has had it with the boy for the day and its time to go. I couldn’t help but crackle, I did not expect those choice of words.
